Spring farmers markets are opening soon! The first of them open in early April, then most of the rest will open by the beginning of June. The map above shows the markets that will be opening in April in green, with the year round markets in blue. Hopefully a market near you will be open soon!
The early spring farmers markets may not be well attended, and some vendors may not show up until later. Likely you won’t find a lot of fresh produce, but as with the year round markets, there will definitely be some great local products to find. This is a great time of the year to start looking forward to warmer weather, and a great time to talk with farmers since they likely won’t be too busy. However, if you want fresh produce, get there when they open so you don’t miss out!

Spring Food Markets
These aren’t like the spring farmers markets where the producers are selling directly to you. Rather, they are a middleman that buys local foods and sells them to you. They are seasonal, like the farmers markets, and a great resource for local foods! They don’t list their opening dates, but historically have opened in April.
Farmer Stan’s Plants and Produce opens sometime in April each year (check their facebook for more details), and are open daily. They are located in Upperco.
Diehl’s Produce is my local market! They are located in Severna Park, and are open all week long. They’ve been operating for nearly 50 years. Not all their food is local, but it is labeled with where it comes from. You can find plants, fresh produce, and other goodies. They open in early April, check their site for updated information!
Peninsula Farms is located in Edgewater, and opens early in April. They are candid on their site that Facebook is not their thing, and offer a phone number if you have any questions!
