Spring Baltimore Farmers Markets for 2021

baltimore farmers markets for 2021

Spring Baltimore farmers markets for 2021 are opening soon! The first of them open in March, then those listed here will all open in April at some point.

The map above shows the markets that will be opening in April in green, with the year round markets in blue. Hopefully a market near you will be open soon!

The rest of the Baltimore farmers markets for 2021 will be opening in May and June. Though the list below hasn’t changed much from 2020, one now has a winter market, and one is only virtual this year thanks to COVID.

The early spring farmers markets may not be well attended, and some vendors may not show up until later. Likely you won’t find a lot of fresh produce, but as with the year round markets, there will definitely be some great local products to find.

This is a great time of the year to start looking forward to warmer weather, and a great time to talk with farmers since they likely won’t be too busy. However, if you want fresh produce, get there when they open so you don’t miss out!

Spring Baltimore Farmers Markets for 2021

Carroll County Farmers Market is the first of the early markets. They open on March 20. They have 75 vendors selling fresh and prepared foods, along with crafts and plants.

The Farmers Market at Maryland, though normally open in April, is only virtual this year. You can support them online at their website. Hopefully next year you’ll be able to visit in person again!

Anne Arundel County Farmers Market, in Annapolis, is open year round on Sundays. Starting April 3 this year, they will also be open on Saturdays, from 7am to noon. In late May they add a Wednesday market too. They have been open for 40 years! A long list of their vendors is available on their site.

Baltimore Farmers Market and Bazaar opens April 4th under the Jones Falls Expressway in Baltimore. Go visit this spring farmers market every Sunday from 7am to noon.

Rotunda Farmers Market will be open in April, every other week, on Tuesdays from 11am to 2pm. They are located on 40th street in Downtown Baltimore.

Belair Farmers Market has been open for 46 years! They’ll be open on April 10th, Saturday, from 7am to 11am.

Crossroads Farmers Market is located in Takoma Park. They offer an extra $20 in purchases for SNAP recipients. You can find them open on Wednesdays, from 11am to 3pm, starting April 14th. ¡Tiene información en español también!

Frederick Farmers Market opens on April 24th on Patrick Street. A second one opens in May on North East Street. The early market will be open on Saturdays, from 10am to 1pm.

Pike Central Farm Market will be reopening this year on at the end of April. They’ll be open in North Bethesda, every Saturday, from 9am to 1:30pm. They offer winery and brewery tastings, chef demos, and kids activities.

Field Fresh Farmers Market has been in operation since 1991. You can find them in Frederick, and they will be opening on April 24th this year. Visit them on Saturdays at the Frederick Fairgrounds this year, from 9am to 1pm.

Severna Park Farmers Market will be open on at the end of April. This is the market I go to the most, and it’s open on Saturdays, from 8am to noon. It’s been around for years, and is very popular!

Spring Food Markets

These aren’t like the Baltimore farmers markets where the producers are selling directly to you. Rather, they are a middleman that buys local foods and sells them to you.

They are seasonal, like the farmers markets, and a great resource for local foods! They don’t list their opening dates, but historically have opened in April.

Farmer Stan’s Plants and Produce opens sometime in April each year (check their website for more details), and are open daily. They are located in Upperco.

Diehl’s Produce is my local market! They are located in Severna Park, and are open all week long. They’ve been operating for nearly 50 years. Not all their food is local, but it is labeled with where it comes from. You can find plants, fresh produce, and other goodies. They open in early April, check their site for updated information!

Peninsula Farms is located in Edgewater, and opens early in April. They are candid on their site that Facebook is not their thing, and offer a phone number if you have any questions!

The opening of the spring farmers markets is always a special time. Visiting them means spring has arrived, and seasonal eating can really begin. Go support your local farmers!
